After School Programs
BEARS
BEARS is Washington Elementary's on-site before- and after-school program, providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for students. Students enjoy a variety of activities, including outdoor play, arts and crafts, games, homework support, and enrichment opportunities. BEARS offers flexible scheduling and subsidies for income-eligible families.

LEARNS
LEARNS is Berkeley Unified School District's after-school program offered on the Washington campus. The program provides academic support, enrichment activities, recreation, and a healthy snack in a fun and supportive setting from the time the traditional school day ends until 6:00pm during the academic year. Enrollment is available to all students, with fees based on family income. You must sign up through the school district for LEARNS.

X-CARE at Berkwood Hedge
X-CARE at Berkwood Hedge School offers an off-campus after-school program for TK–5 students. Staff meet students at Washington each day and walk them across the street to Berkwood's Lower School campus, where children enjoy healthy snacks, homework support, free play, arts and crafts, games, reading, and optional enrichment classes. The program runs until 6:00 p.m. and follows the BUSD school calendar, with flexible 2-, 3-, and 5-day schedules available. JCC East Bay
JCC East Bay Berkeley Afterschool provides a welcoming, play-based after-school program for TK–5 students in a safe and inclusive environment. Children enjoy a balance of free play, outdoor time, homework support, creative arts, STEM activities, sports, and rotating enrichment classes. Washington Elementary students may be eligible to take the bus from school to the JCC, though transportation and placement are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
