PTA Budget and Fundraising
The PTA raises money annually and uses that money to fund positions and programs that would not otherwise exist. Money is raised every school year to fund positions and programs for the next school year.
The 2026-2027 budget includes funding for:
Literacy and Math direct intervention
Physical Education (PE) instructional specialist
Mini-Grants to teachers and staff for classroom supplies, field trips and enrichment opportunities
Class presentations, assemblies, etc.
Social group counseling, conflict resolution, and absenteeism support
Affinity groups including African-American Unity Group (AAUG), Rainbow, XSpecial families and more
English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)
Office of Family Engagement & Equity
Annual Fundraisers
As well funded as Berkeley schools are, these programs are only possible with donations from families and the community. Below are the four annual fundraisers, which provide many opportunities for students and parents to get involved and support these important programs. All donations are fully tax-deductible.
WASHINGTON FUND
The Washington Fund is our annual campaign to support PTA-funded programs. This is the largest source of fundraising support we receive each year.
Spring Party and Fun(d)raiser
This is an annual adults-only event, happening in the spring. The PTA provides offsite childcare while adults enjoy great food and drinks and raise money while having fun.
WALK-A-THON
Every fall, students collect sponsors and then walk, skip or run around the blacktop during the Walk-a-thon.
READ-A-THON
Much like the Walk-a-thon, kids collect sponsors and then read, read, read!
