PTA Board

The Washington PTA is a 501(c)(3) United States non-profit corporation and a chapter of the Berkeley Council in the Peralta District of the California PTA. 

The Washington PTA is:

  • P – Parents (anyone who parents, cares for, and raises our students)

  • T – Teachers (anyone who teaches, in the classroom, on the playground, after school, etc.)

  • A – Association (an organized group of people)

Washington Elementary School is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible (non-profit Federal Tax ID No. 94-6174706). Our Benevity ID is 946174706.

PTA Leadership

Everyone can become a PTA Voting Member ($10 annual membership plus $1 processing fee)!

The 2026-2027 PTA Volunteer Board/Leadership includes:

  • President: Carlos Esquivel & Kayla Tekus (C0-Presidents)

  • Treasurer: McLain King

  • Secretary: Michele Walker

  • Chair of Room Parent Coordination and Communications: Anne Ellis

  • Chair of Volunteer Coordination and Membership: Jessica Vose

  • Chair of Programming and Events: Anne Garrett

  • Financial Secretary: Carl DiPietro

  • Parliamentarian: Catherine Clark

Open positions for 2026-27 - We need you!

  • Chair of Fundraising: Leads the PTA's fundraising efforts and helps set fundraising goals and the annual budget.

    • Key responsibilities include:

      • Planning and launching The Charge, our annual fundraising kick-off.

      • Overseeing the Walk-a-Thon, Read-a-Thon, and Spring Fundraiser committees.

  • Chair of Affinity Groups: Leads the PTA's Affinity Groups program to foster community and belonging.

    • Key responsibilities include:

      • Planning Affinity Groups and Equity Family Nights.

      • Partnering with the Principal and OFEE to support family and community needs.

  • Executive Vice President: Supports the President and assumes their duties when needed.

    • Key responsibilities include:

      • Planning and facilitating PTA Association meetings.

      • Serving on the Finance Committee.

      • Supporting Board meeting planning and facilitation.
